Hookworms and whipworms are the two most common internal worms that cause both blood and mucus in a puppy's stool. Worms can eat into the intestinal tract and cause bleeding in severe cases. He could have eaten something that has caused a rupture. All of these are a good reason to visit the vet. The vet will ask you to bring a sample of his stool for testing.

Ask the vet also about vaccinations when you are there.

She has received both her vaccines (2nd being last week) and was wormed along with her 1st vaccine. Did notice today some mucus in her stool though. Have collected a sample from today and booked a vets appointment for tomorrow. I take it its nothing too serious that I need to panic?? Thanks very much for your help
