Can I receive ssi benefits for my nephew who lives with me if his dad is disabled? My sister is his mother but is not in his life. I have had him for a year now and she does not help me much. I have my own family and 3 kids but I'm always stressing out about how I'm going to do it every month. I know his dad gets benefits but not sure how or if I can even get any help from his ssi...

His father should be sitting down with you to discuss his benefits (assuming he has court ordered custody) and to apply for benefits for his son, if he doesn't get them already. If he does, which I would imagine he does, he should be turning it over to you! But without a court order giving you custody, he doesn't have to.
