Anyone know what this film was called or if it even exists please :-

Some scientist guy studies this animal/bug/alien in his barn/cellar. This stuff builds a miniature city out of sand. He knocks a few buildings down and they build a sculpture of his face out of sand. Eventually they escape and kill everyone...

I think it was part of the Outer Limits series. The episode your talking about had actor Beau Bridges as the scientist studying the creatures.
