I drive a 2007 Jeep Compass with ABS,ESP.About 4 months ago the abs and esp light came on and off intermittingly and every time the light was on the abs and esp and cruise control did not work and when the light went out everything worked. The light use to stay sometimes for 2 hours and other times for days.Now the light is on all the time and of course no abs esp or cruise control.

Could anyone shed some light on this before I take the car in to a garage.

That's par for the course, when the CEL stays on. Attach a scan tool or code reader to the data link connector and find out what codes are stored in the PCM. If you solve the CEL (code) problem, the ABS/ESP lights should go out.
