My current husband has two kids the first child mother cheated on him so she put the guy she cheated with name on the birth certificate so my husband has never been responsible for her. But he has another child with same mother and he pays child support for him. The question is he is wanting to adopt the daughter because he wants to put her on his Insurance and we were wondering if we did adopt her would he then have to pay child support for the daughter as well

Is he still married to her mother? If not, no; He cannot adopt her. A "step-parent adoption" requires that the "step-parent" be married to the other parent (in this case, the girl's mother).

But if he could, of course he would have to pay child support for her; She would then be legally his daughter.

If he is nthe bio father than he doesn't need to adopt. Just prove paternity.
