I have ased this question before got a few answers but I'm not sure they where what I was looking for. We want to add a whole house water filter to home and we live on a slab our water is read from the from yard by our water company. We are unable to tell where the main water line comes into the into the house so that we can cut into it to add this filter. Everything like the hot water tank,heater ac etc is located in our attic. So we don't if it runs up to the attic or if it is in a wall. This is the first slab home we have have ever lived in.

Hello, no expert but don't you have a mains isolating tap in the house, I don't know what you mean by a slab house but in my experience every house has a main isolator tap outside usually on the pavement and nowadays is blue plastic cover.
But after the meter there is usually one under the kitchen sink or behind drawers in sink unit, have a look.
I Should add that I live in UK so I don't know if this still applies where you live. Ciao for now

Somewhere in your house is a line, in a wall, that goes to the attic. You will find it easiest to find that line, build a wall box and install the filter there. Where do you live that the HW is in the attic? Must be a very warm place!

I live in Mississippi and came from Ohio and there building codes are nothing like up north, so we are running into a lot of problems when it comes to doing stuff in this house, it's not that the house is old either it is only 4 years old they just don't seem to do thing right here...

Do you have CPVC or PEX? In most recent slab houses, the CW line comes into the house at a single location, branches into 2 feed lines, 1 for the HW heater and 1 for the CW house feed. Don't think they are in the attic since you would need to run a lot more piping. Main feed will have a shut off valve somewhere.
