    2003 mazda tribute won't start
I have a 2003 Mazda Tribute 2wd v6. When I turn the key the gauges kick on but the fuel pump doesn't and the key will not crank the starter. I can jump the starter but since the fuel pump doesn't kick on obviously it won't start. I checked the starter relay and fuel pump relay both fine. I also thought it was the security stopping it but the light blinks as it is suppose to? I Can hear a clicking noise under the dash when I turn key on?

. Remove and fully charge, or replace, the battery. Most auto parts stores will do this for free.

. Check all under dash and under hood fuses with a test light or multimeter.

The Battery is charged, and the fuses light up when I use a test light.

. Reset the inertia fuel cut-off switch, if you have one.

    . Check for codes.

. Check the ignition switch for wear, pitting, or melting.

They vary. Ford often places them in the trunk, behind the right liner.

. Clean the main ECM ground.

. Jump the fuel pump relay and see if the fuel pump runs, since you have power to the fuel pump fuse and the fuel pump relay. In Texas, because of the dust, I often have to remove fuel pump relays and clean the contacts.

Best to use a Power Probe III.

Tried jumping didn't kick fuel pump on. The starter doesn't kick on either unless I jump it.

Did you check the ignition switch, like I suggested? The problem is with the ignition switch, neutral start switch, or wiring. My bet is the ignition switch is bad.
