I live in the upstairs apartment of a duplex. At first the water pressure was slowly going down, then trickling and now nothing in the kitchen and bathroom. My toilet can't flush also because of no water.. What is that?

Do you have no water anywhere, or just certain fixtures? Do you rent or own this dwelling?

I actually own the duplex . I myself live upstairs but rent the lower apartment. Tenants downstairs have water, never had an issue. As I sais before, no water at all, downstairs, all is great!

Let's hear some more about your system. Pump or city water? If city water are there separate meters? Are there separate shutoffs for each unit? What have you done so far Back to you, Tom

I'm connected to the municipal system( city water). There are 2 different meters for each unit and they both have their own shutoff valve. At first, I was losing pressure, so I thought it was temporary... I left on

Checked my kitchen and bathroom faucets, there are not blocked by sediments or other stuff. Check the main line in the garage, it's open, as it's always been. I thought, maybe a leak somewhere but couldn't find any evidence of water anywhere. I can definitely rule out that it's the city the problem since downstairs is fine.I also checked the line that comes from the main and that ends up into the hot water tank. All seems fine, it's also open. And there is where I'm stuck!

Do you have a PRV. Pressure reducing valve installed? (see image)

Would that be installed on the main line as it enters the house , near the meter? In any case, I don't see one

Do you have an outside faucet just for your unit? Check the flow of water from that... how is it? Do you have a washing machine valve? If so, shut off the washer supply and remove one of the hoses and direct it into a bucket... turn on water supply and see if you have water flow.

If the water flow is low to none then you need to back up to the water meter, shut off the main shutoff to your unit and loosen/disconnect the inlet/outlet to the meter... turn on water and see if water flows strongly or weakly... check that the meter isn't clogged at this point. Be clear that when you disconnect the meter there will be a backflow of water... do NOT confuce this for pressure. Drain the pipes and then put a bucket in front of the meter connections and check for flow.

Start here and you should know more after that!

So the verdict is in.. After trying everything that was suggested and still nothing, I had no choice to call in the big guns. The city itself was called to check if all was in order outside my home( the main outside.) After multiple checks, we
Finally figured it out.. The line is weakened and leaking.. problably not totally broken or because some water
Is able to reach my counter. But not
Enough water to have pressure up to
My apartment. So there's the culprit. So we're digging up along my driveway in a couple of days to spot where exactly and fix everything up ! $$$$$$$
