Hi everyone! We just rescued a Lab/ Schnauzer mix, he's all black and looks a lot like a lab right now with small paws. He's 5 months and about 22lbs. I know it's very hard to predict what he's going to look like but I was wondering does anyone else have that mix and would be able to post pictures? I'd like to see both puppies and grown up dogs. Also any advice or feedback on this mix would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Well, from the looks of him, he's going to look mostly lab. He may grow in longer, wire-like hairs as he gets older.. but I think what you see is what you're going to get as he gets older.

Hehe are you sure he has schnauzer in him? Most of the mixes of that type I've seen look a little different, but then again maybe the lab is just much more dominant.

Are you certain of the parentage?
I don't see schnauzer, it's entirely possible, but I can't pick it out.
Given that he appears to have a slight underbite my guess would be that there could be one of the bully breeds mixed up in there.
But that is the fun of having a mixed breed, to keep you guessing.
Whatever he is he is a cutie.

I have a lab/schnauzer mix male. He just turned 5 years old. I adopted him at 8 weeks old from the Humane Society. We were told his father was a miniature schnauzer and his mother was a black lab. Don't ask! He weighs 38 lbs.

His personality is on the schnauzer side - weary of strangers but he lives for retrieving and being in the water.

Thanks for your reply. Onyx's mom was a 35lb schnauzer and his dad a black lab but we didn't see him so don't know how big he is. Right now Onyx is 7 months and 35lbs already. Wonder how much bigger he'll go from here.
