    Intertherm heat exchanger bad
My furnace took a Crap sometime last winter. This year I go to light it and its thick with soot in the combustion chamber, and flame was tall Orange. Couldn't adjust flame. Had it inspected and was told heat exchanger has crack(s) and was mixing fresh air with the combusted air.

Was told it is an obsolete model, can't fix or repair. I know it is old but wanted to see if there was a heat exchanger available to me at all...

Intertherm model # mgh-055a downdraft style furnace. Lp gas . Looking for a heat exchanger.

Call them it looks like they still have the part number listed. See item 35 on the diagram. It is worth a phone call!

If the heat exchanger is still under warranty, I agree with hvac1000. However, if the unit has no warranty left, I would suggest replacing the complete furnace. To replace a heat exchanger on a mobile home furnace basically requires taking the whole furnace apart. Time consuming, yes, a pain in the rear, it sure can be. If you don't have central air with the furnace, you can replace the whole furnace in about the same amount of time it takes to replace the heat exchanger. Im not a huge fan of heat exchanger replacement (unless the furnace is pretty new). Normally, once the heat exchanger has failed, its time for a new furnace. Just my opinion.
