I have strep throat and have decided to forgo antibiotics. How can I help my body deal with the bacteria? Will alcohol or liquor aid in killing the infection?
Simple Answer... No. If its bacteriaL you NEED antibiotics... if its Viral.. you have to ride it out.
If you choose not to take antibiotics look forward to possibly getting scarlet fever and/or permanent heart damage.
No, booze will not kill bacteria. It'll just make you drunk.
I am assuming your doctor diagnosed this? Did he do a culture to confirm it was strep throat? Why are you forgoing antibiotics?
The primary solution to a bacterial infection is antibiotics. If you're not going to use them than you will have to ride it out. Sadly nothing will really help except the antibiotics.
While it's admirable to heed all the cautions these days about overuse of antibiotics, strep is not one to be taken lightly - and how do you stand the pain? Take the drugs this time!
It's people who demand an antibiotic for every cold and flu that is VIRAL that are the ones helping to cause resistant strains of BACTERIA.
Cool did you know fact. Flesh eating bacteria is a the same bacteria that causes strep throat, but different strain.
Fun eh?
