Hi I live in Indiana and I started a new job on Oct 3,2012 was my orientation. I didn't have my 2 forms of ID with me couldn't get my birth certificate until today Monday the Oct.8. I was born overseas and my dad had my B.C. I had to wait on him to get it to me. My wallet was stolen that I had my s.s.card in it,so I couldn't use that. I explained to my boss I would have it by today at 3pm.She said that was fine. She fired me because at 2:48 I still didn't have it. I loved what my job was going to be. She told me I was a great worker and would hire me back when she had opening. It was only my second official day working at the company.
My question is how long do I have to turn in my documents for I-9? Did she have a right to fire me for that?

If you will read the I-9 form, you will see that you had three days from when work began to submit your documents.
