    Cleaning company incident
    Stringer,

Maybe you can help me with this one. Cleaning a bank and someone urinated on the ATM vestibule carpet. The cleaner didn't know it was wet and vacuumed the carpet. So, the vacuum can't be used for obvious reasons. Does the client get charged for the extra time it took to clean the carpet? Who takes the loss for the unusable vacuum: individual, cleaning co or client?

Hi Venture, I haven't been around lately, lots on my plate lately.

Sorry to say but this is one of those times that it is the cost of during business my friend. These sort of thing hurts I know but challenging the client on this could upset the apple cart.

A lot will depend on the wording on the contract. But the likelihood is this will be the cost of doing business.

I'm thinking... If they get the person who did it they could be held liable... no?. it must be a crime to do something like that. I believe they have it on surveylance.

Its probably a crime, but if they get restitution it will be to replace their carpet, not your costs. You could sue the person, if convicted, but that's a long shot.

    Won't your insurance cover this?

I would guess if they have insurance it will have a 1000 or higher deductable so nothing to get.

But that is why the employee working has to know and watch,

Next did the wet ruin the cleaner, I am trying to figure out beyond some cleaning of the vac what the issue is with it.

But in general the cleaning company is just out, extra time for dozens of issues is always figured into bids and costs ( or should be)

Machine still works but I just can't use it at a site... I wouldn't my site to be vacuumed with it... it was a new vacuum... had only been used 5 times or so.

I am sorry, no idea why you would not use it, There is far worst sucked up into vaccums every day , if you knew what was in a lot of the dirt that goes into them.

I am going to sound rude, but you will be throwing lots of equipment out if you won't use things twice that get nasty in their use. You purify it, clean the surface and go on, I am sorry I find this to be somewhat silly Most cleaning companies most likely would not even clean it, and would have just keep on using it.

I, also, was wondering why the vacuum was ruined. I thought maybe I didn't know enough about it. But I really don't see why it would affect your future use.

OK, I'll put it to use... at another site that is always late with their payment.

    Thanks.
