Lawsuit concerning credit card debt
I am being sued in local court by a lawyer representing a credit card company for a outstanding balance owed, with the last activity being 2 months short of 4 years. The amount I am being sued for has ballooned to over $3000.00 more than the original debt without including lawyer's fees in the lawsuit. I do not have any income at the present time and cannot work due to severe medical problems. I would like to know that if I lose this case and a judgement is placed against me by the court, can I still set up payment arrangements for small payments per month and can the court sheriff sale any of my personal property i.e. furniture, vehicles. I do not own any real estate. Until a dramatic reversal of fortune 4 years ago in April, I was in good standing with these 2 credit cards and always paid my payments on time or before the due date. Please help me... I have never been sued before and suffice it to say I am worried.
Thank you
