How do you change an 8 month old name in nj
Hi. I live in nj and I have an 8 month old son.. I was wondering how on earth would I go about changing his last name to mine.. his father is not around and signed the birth certificate when he was born. I really would like to change his last name to mine since I'm having another baby by him and I want both of them to have my last name.. so neither one of them feel left out or weird.. thank you!

You will need to request a change from the court and the father will need to agree to it.

First children in a family having two or three names is more common today than family with one day, from what I see. So the children will have no issues with it. You are the mother may feel funny about it, but you will be the only one with a issue.

The father will have to agree to the name change, Have you been to court and have a custody order and a child support order for the child
