She is person I'm closest to in my family. We used to joke about how she needed to move out sometime because she is 23. Now that she is moving to Texas and we live in Tennessee I'm finding it hard to deal with. I tell her everything and she helps me with my problems. I love her so much and she is the only person that understands most of my issues in my family. Its really starting to get to me that I'll only see her on the special holidays and that I might get to fly down there during my school breaks. She is my best friend and sister and I'm afraid I might break down when I say goodbye or even when I see her this weekend. She is leaving in 6 days and we are going to hang out on Sunday before she leaves. I'm afraid I might make her feel bad if I start crying. I mean she travels all the time so I hardly ever see her but its different because I know she'll be back but she won't this time. I need help or advice.

You didn't say how old you are.. high school or college? Not one friend other than your sister, who can listen to your pain of being further apart?
One thing I do when grief hits is think of how it could be worse - death, coma, disappearance, drugs, other parts of the world where oppression and starvation are routine...
You still have your wonderful sister. You have email, phones, Facebook (I remember when all I had was writing letters; long distance calls were too expensive). Try to keep busy and develop your school friends, and be extra glad when you do see your sister.

It's OK to cry when she leaves. She'll just know she's lived and will be missed, which is a good thing. You can stay in touch and you can view this as a chance to stand on your own a little more. Find friends, date, enjoy school and work. She's living her life and to keep a strong relationship you have to do your part by living yours, too.

So break down and cry when she leaves that is actually normal for sisters who are close.

With skype and cell phones that are unlimited plans and free long distance, there is no reason not to stay in touch.
