    Need of Transit Visa?
    Hi,

    Someone needs to travel to India from the USA with a halt at Paris. His current H1 visa is expired although he has his H1 B extension approved and has the documents for the same. This means he does not have a US visa that is stamped on his passport now and will get that done in India.

    Please let me know, if he needs a TRANSIT VISA to travel through paris or will the documents suffice?

    He only needs a transit visa if he intends staying in Paris for 24 hours. If just passing through and staying in Paris for a stopover, doesn't need one.

    But why did he not get the visa done at the emabassy in India prior to travel

    I don't think many people think of a transit visa unless they are sight seeing.
