How do you adopt when father is unknown
Hi... I have a 5 year old and don't have a farther listed on the birth cert. The problem is I am getting remarried and my future husband wants to adopt her. The twist is that the father was deported before she was born and he had to return to Libya. With Libya at war what do you do? How can my future husband apopt?

IF you are in the US only your husband can adopt your daughter, not your "future" husband. The issue isn't whether there is a father listed on the birth certificate. The issue is whether you know the identity of the father.

So the first step is to get married.

    I assume you mean Libya?
