He also told me he has missed me and thought of me 4 time to time , he thinks a lot of me and also thinks I'm a really nice person but thinks I asked him the question a bit fast as we had no contact for a couple of months so he honestly can't give me an answer about giving it another go so asked him of he would like 2 meet up for a drink to catch up face to face and told him to think about it , he answered me back with the same thing he honestly doesn't know , am I wasting my time ?

Move on. He probably just doesn't want to say no cause he truly doesn't want to hurt you again. The way I see things, if a relationship ends there's a reason for it and unless you're both willing to talk about why you broke up and move past the reason, you'll just break up again. Feel good about yourself, and who you are, then find a new guy. :)
