Hello, I have installed all the lights and now it's time to flip the switch I'm getting the source from an electrical outlet on the same wall.. I have 14/2 wire Blk, whte, ground.. how do I connect a switch in order to operate the lights. I was told to connect the white from the lights directly to the outlet prong. The black cut into two putting on the switch. This will open and close the lights... can you help please.. I want to be sure

Turn the power off to the outlet. The white in the 14/2 connects to the silver screw of the outlet and goes into the switch box. The black from the same 14/2 is pulled from the brass screw on the outlet to one of the switch terminals. The next 14/2 is fed into the switch box and the white is connected to the white in the switch box, the other end to the light whites. The black from the lights is connected to one end of the 14/2, the other end to the switch. Turn the.power on, switch should control all lights.

Brian has told u correct way to do wiring.

If there is a green screw on switch, this for ground wire. Attach a pigtail to this screw and attach it to the ground wires from the cables.

The ground wire in outlet box ceiling light should be attached to existing ground wires.

Unfortunately I am not proficient in drawing on the internet. Just remember this, in your circumstance, white is always connected through, never switched. Black goes to the switch and from the switch, black is always switched.
