    Referrals
Will I need a referral from my primary care physician to see an ophthalmologist about cataract surgery? I noticed that according to Mandatory Vison Benefit 768 I would be entitled to 1 annual vision care visit so that is why I was wondering if I would still need to get a referral for this. Thank You for any assistance you can give me! Mary Ann

You haven't stated your insurance plan name - Medicare?
Also, have you been told you have cataracts by an optometrist?
I went to an ophthalmologist with no referral under Medicare, and the office staff knew what was covered. I don't think it doubles as a vision care visit in one year. The office will know.
