I have replaced my single bathroom sink with a double sink vanity. I ran each sink to a tee and then down to one p-trap and then into the wall. Normal use if fine but if I run one or the other sink for a long period, I get the sewer smell. Can I trap each sink instead of the single trap? The sinks are no more than 30in apart.

Yes you can. Do I think it will solove your smelly problem? No I don't! What I think is happening here is that you have a partagel blockage on down the line setting up a back pressure allowing sewer gas to bubble past your trap. Try this. Unhook the "J" bend from the trap and send a snake up into the wall. You'll only have a few feet until it hits the stack. Flush with a pan of boiling water. If that doesn't do the trick click on back and we'll go to "plan B". Good luck. Tom

Thanks for the answer. I assume where it says partagel, you mean partial? I did have the pipe coming from the wall replaced so I assume the snake will go down the drain pipe stack, correct. What would be plan "B"?

Yes I meant partial. Plan "B" would be to snake the rest of the drain line from the bathroom roof vent since you can't reach it from the vanity. Put out enough snake to reach the base and 15 more feet. Good luck, Tom

I agree with Tom, adding a trap most likely won't fix the issue. One trap the way you have it will work just fine (just like a double compartment kitchen sink only has one trap for both sides). Actually in this case, code doesn't allow each sink to be trapped separately because draining one sink could siphon the trap of the other sink.
