How to connect ceiling light to light switch
I took down a ceiling fan and I am trying to connect the ceiling light back up I can get the light to come on BUT it will not let me use the light switch to turn on\off
I have three white & black which I have connect black to black , white to white Which left me one red wire which I put duct tape on the end and pushed up into the box
It's my theory that I should have connected this red wire to either the white/black but to which one, please help me

I'd say your white to the whites, and your black to the red.

Do not duct tape anything. Never use duct tape for electrical work. You should be using a properly sized wire nuts for any of these connections and to cap off the unused wire.
