I'm live in California. A debt from 2001, not sure if it is mine. A lien was placed on my house that I bought in 2009. The lien wasn't put on until 2012. Just found out because I'm trying to refinance. Nothing was ever mailed to to me about this. What can I do, where do I start.

The lien should indicate who placed it and, if it was authorized by a court action, the court and docket. So you start with that info and find out what the lien is about.
