I have a domed shaped globe with a metal ring base. There is no center screw; the globe itself is turned to take out or put in. It is wedged tight. The bulbs are burned out. How do I remove this without breaking the globe?

Try twisting the globe counter clock wise.
A photo would be helpful.
Is it glass or plastic? I had one with a plastic globe that would either just fall out sooner or later, or would get sort of jammed up like cross threaded and hard to get loose. If its plastic, smack gently with the palm of your hand, sideways from different directions, up etc. What you're trying to do is work it loose.
I got rid of mine when the dome fell out and landed in my lap watching TV
