I have a painful lump on the skin between my thigh and vagina. It is very painful and red. It is about the size of a nickel. It is not a bartholin cyst, it is not inside my vagina, but more so on the crease between my thigh and vagina. I have researched and I cannot figure out anything. I do not have insurance to go to the doctor, so I really need some realistic opinions

Could it be an ingrown hair? If so, apply a warm compress, and see if that helps.

I do not think it is an ingrown hair.. There is no head or pimple like appearance, and it is larger than what I think an ingrown hair is. It fits all of the symptoms of a bartholin gland abcess/cyst, but I do not see any pictures of it being where mine is. All I have seen show inside the walls on the vagina and mine is above my genital parts, like beside my hair line on the crease of skin between my thigh and there.

It may not be a pimple yet. Sometimes they develop in an area where you sweat. Why not try a warm compress and see if it brings the pimple to the surface?

I could try that

I tried the hot compress. How often will I need to do it, before a head may form? My mom suggests using a sterilized needle to poke it, and see if anything will drain?

Use it a few times a day. Never use a sterilized or any type of needle unless you want to spread an infection.
