Married filing separately? Spouse is foreign
    Hello,

I was married on dec 28th 2006 to a french citizen in france, prior to that I was living in the us all year. He has never lived in the us and has only french income.

What would be the quickest/easiest way for me to file? I've tried e-filing with turbo tax as married filing separately, but they insist I put a ss number for him, and as we have yet to tackle figuring out us immagration (and will be most likely staying in france), he does not have one.

Thank you very much to anyone who can advise.

Actually, you can file Married Filing Separately and put his name and state "foreign national; no SSN/ITIN".

To do this, you will have to MAIL the return.

    Filing SINGLE is not correct.
