I need to get divorced ASAp. I've been separated from him for more than a year. He beat me practically every chance he had. I'm just done with it. I moved to Washington from Hawaii. I don't think he will sign which makes it harder for me. I've locked him up several times for abuse and he has a record. I don't know anything about getting divorce, just the fact that I was stupid to get myself in all this mess. Please help me out thank you

I did my friends divorce for her without an attorney and it was quite simple and to say the least FREE!! Except court fee which was fairly cheap. But I live in NY so I'm not sure how different it is in your state. But I went to my local family court and got a divorce packet and filled out everything and filed them with the court. And then had a court hearing. The process took about 2 months to do. If you have legal aid and are income eligible they might be able to help you at no cost.

I meant to say *legal aid in your area*

Check for local support grpups for battered women. They can often provide legal advice. And help preparing a divorce filing.
