New Key? Can be ignition, or fuel problem as well, any codes?
Check fuses at the very least.

It may be a security system problem, which can only be solved by going to the dealer. We have had numerous complaints like your's on early 2000 Pontiacs.

Yes, it could be security but it could be any number of other faults. Check the basics: of course, you do have gas?
    Any recent repairs? Prior issues?
Does the security light operate normally?
Does the check engine light come on when the key is on and the engine is off? Any diagnostic trouble codes?
I'd like to know if there is any spark at the plugs. Do you hear the fuel pump during it's prime (that buzz immediately after "key on")?
