Ask Me Help Desk - Painless Genital Herpes?

Okay, so I have these tiny white bumps on the side of the shaft of my penis but it doesn't look like hair follicles because they're all by themselves. I also have TINY little red bumps on the rim of the head of my penis and I found this flat blister looking think just below the head of my penis, it's just weird because it's a line shaped blister and it's flat. None of it hurts but sometimes it appears I also get little white patches in the head of my penis. Please help :P I have no clue what it is. I thought it could be genital herpes but it's all painless.

Sorry to hear about this, the worry of having an STD can be very stressful. Have you had unprotected sex with anyone? Stupid question, I know, but think back over the past year at least.

Anyway, it could be a number of things. It could be eczema, a rash from the laundry detergent you're using, not cleaning enough (this is only if you aren't circumcised) underneath the foreskin in the shower, or just not using enough lotion/lubricant when masturbating. I know from working with patients that genital herpes can be very painful, but there's also the possibility that you have genital warts/HPV. They are usually painless and show up as little white/red bumps on your penis. Your best bet is to get checked out by your physician.

If you're worried about telling the doctor, don't be It's the responsible thing to do and to also tell any future partners you have IF you are positively diagnosed with an STD.

I will agree it can be anything and of course that includes STD's. The only way to know is a medical check up.

Yes I did have unprotected sex a long time ago, and the last time I had sex was maybe 4 months ago, and when I saw the bumps, I thought maybe they were normal but as time progressed, I started noticing other little bumps as well. Idk if this will help in anyway but I'm 17 and I don't use lotion or anything when I masterbate

(accidentally pressed submit on my iPod, wasn't finished) but anyway I don't use lotion or anything when I masterbate, but whenever I do, I'm always in the shower where it's wet. Idk if that could substitute? But I'm just really scared because I have a girlfriend who doesn't know about it and I'm scared to tell her because I'm afraid she will leave me esp. Because I might be having a baby with a diff. Girl soon :\ (embarrassing) but my girlfriend know about the baby, but I'm just afraid that my problem (down there) will cross the line and she will leave me :(

Okay, before I get into the other stuff. It sounds like you have genital warts. STOP HESITATING AND GO TO THE DOCTOR STRAIGHTAWAY. You MUST tell your girlfriend about this. It is NOT fair to her for you to potentially pass this on her if you have something. That is one of the most self-centered and awful things you could do. Having a baby with another person hasn't anything to do with the matter at hand, and if she's okay with it then you needn't worry about it. Babies are one thing, sexually transmitted diseases are an entirely different matter.

For future reference, when you start a sentence with "I found bumps on my penis..." you need to go to the doctor, like, yesterday.

You MUST tell her. If she leaves you, so be it. Do NOT be that guy. You could potentially ruin her self-esteem, make her jaded, and worst of all, potentially pass this on to her! How could you live with yourself if you did that? I used to work in a women's shelter and saw so many women whose husband would bring home all kinds of diseases. Genital warts comes from HPV, and HPV causes cervical cancer (ya know, the kind that kills people) and sterility in women. Please, please, PLEASE go to the doctor and find out what's wrong and tell her. It's going to hurt if she leaves you, and might mess up things for a while for you, but you need to man up and do this. Don't have sex with anyone else until you figure out what's wrong.

I wouldn't do that to her, that's why I haven't already. We've been dating for over 2 months and I haven't done anything wit her. I told a friend and he thinks it's nothing, because he said he's had friends with general herpes and it's BAD... Ive had this problem for months and it doesn't hurt and it stays the same, it's gotto. A LITTLE worse but BARELY... And he said if It was genital herpes, by now, I WOULD KNOW...

Yes, but genital warts is a completely different virus that can give you painless bumps on your genitals; it can have devastating affects on someone's reproductive health. Doctor. Go. ASAP.
