Is it safe to take 50 mg of zinc everyday?
Ok, so I have issues about oily skin and pimples and I've read that zinc could help decreasing oily skin. I bought a zinc supplement with a dose of 50mg/tablet. My question is, is it safe to take 50 mg of zinc everyday? Or do I have to take it every other day? Or is it fine if I will cut the tablet into half?

    Zinc gluconate or zinc sulfate?

Or zinc picolinate, the most absorbable, and hence the one with the lowest maximum you should take?

    Here is my recommendation --

Usually acne sufferers are missing certain vitamins and minerals. My son benefited from taking zinc gluconate every day. He started with three 22 mg. (total of 66 mg.) per day, took that for two weeks, and slowly, over another two weeks, increased that to six per day. His acne decreased in severity, so he continued that regime.

So, that means cut the tablets in half and take them that way.

If there's worsening or no change, stop taking the zinc.

Does your son experience any side effects?

No, he had no side effects. He was within safe amounts. Of course, everyone is different, has different tolerance levels, so if you notice any problems (stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, metallic taste), stop taking the zinc.
