Driving unregistered when thinking I was registered and got fined for it.
My rego was due on the Monday and I paid it by credit card on the telephone to my ctp greenslip on the Saturday got told I can go get sticker in a hour. Went to the rta got a my rego sticker on the Monday thinking I'm driving around a registered car 2 months later I get pulled over by a policeman saying I'm unregistered. Rang GIO and told them what happen they said everything is being sent to the RTA but the RTA is blaming GIO that my ctp greenslip hasn't been paid. Do you think I should be fined $600 for driving? And who's fault is it mine or the rta and gio's. Who should pay it?

Do I think you should, no, but then the judge will not care what I think. You need to get youdoctuments showing you paid it and took care of it. You need to get a statement from them, saying exactly what you just said.

    But maybe translated into English.

Knowing what the following terms mean would be helpful:
    • rego
    • ctp greenslip
    • rta
    • GIO

This can't be the US, I think, as 3 of us responding at the moment are in...
One important question is whether your card was charged. If it was, you have a strong case. If it wasn't, you don't.

I believe it's New Zealand. I also believe that the OP had a responsibility to verify the registration.
