The sore needs to heal. Can you take the dog to a vet for treatment?

You need to get him to the vet for treatment.
While the maggots are performing the job of eating and debriding the dead tissue they need to go away, and the wound itself needs treatment, they can be a lot deeper than what you are able to see.
The best you can do at home is to flush them out with saline.
The wound needs to cleaned and he need to antibiotics to fight infection.
Is your dog older, not moving well, or debilitated?
The problem is usually with the dog having the inability to get away from the flys or being to weak to get the flys off themselves.
The reason for the flys being able to stop, land and lay eggs needs to be addressed also.
In any case you'll need to get him to the vet.
