How long after giving birth can I start wearing tampons?
As soon as you feel safe wearing them.
Do not wear tampons for at least 6 weeks postpartum. It takes that long for your cervix to close completely.
Also, no sex for at least 6 weeks as well.
I don't wear them either, too risky.
This is, though, part of the discharge instructions I give to patients when it's time for them to go home.
1) No tampons for a minimum of 6 weeks; and
2) No sex for a minimum of 6 weeks.
There are more DC instructions, but this is what pertains to this OP's question.
