Is there only space for one switch at the switch box end? And from your post I think you are saying there is one 3 conductor cable (Blk-Red-Wh ,plus the ground) from the switch up to the junction box at the light fixture?
The switch box has a hot coming in does it not? And the white coming in with that hot wire is wire nutted together with the white going up to the light fixture, right?

What is location of outlet box?

How many wires do u have coming into the light fixture box?

Usually a 3 wire cable(red, black, white) is used if u have 2 switches controlling one light.

    Need more info.
