Can wet weld glue (blue) be used on cpvc?
Can I use wet weld (or blue glue) designed for quick setting in wet conditions to make a connection on my 1/2" cpvc supply line. Even with the water turned off, when I cut this last pipe the water heater is going to drain out that line. I'm not sure if the regular cpvc glue I'm using will work in the wet environment... especially if I have to stop to prime the pipe first. Not to mention getting flooded while I'm working under the house. Thanks.

    Hi Avery

If I understand you here, it sounds like you plan on cementing your water line while the hot water is draining back through the pipe, right? If so, this simply will not work, OK?

Why not shut off the gas or electric to the water heater and then drain the water heater and then use the correct cement for the job. Here, that blue glue could be toxic and it is simply not meant for the application.

Do the job right... drain the heater or pipe and do what you need to do to connect things properly. With CPVC you'll want to wait awhile (read can) before applying pressure for best results!

    Good luck!

Mark's right! You want to cement the pipes with glue. CPVC Cement welds the two pipes together. Follow Marks instruction and do the job right. Good luck, Tom
