. Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.
. Check for codes.
. Verify that the Check Engine Light (CEL) comes on for 2 seconds and then goes out, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II).
. Focus on the distributor and coil, if the CEL functions properly. Normally, replacing the Ignition Control Module (ICM) inside the distributor solves the problem. Apply silicone heat transfer compound to the back of the new ICM. If the problem persists, change the coil.
Every 60,000 miles, it's best to replace plugs (NGK only), distributor cap, and rotor. With V6 engines, many people neglect replacing the rear plugs, which is a mistake.
