Said her name is Panford Quainoo. >personal info removed<
It's very possible that a person named Panford Quainoo does exist in Ghana.
I hope you didn't send any money. Ghana is home to one of the worlds largest dating scams.
No money has been mentioned yet
It will be. She'll ask for money for a passport, or a plane ticket, so she can come visit you. She'll tell you that her mom is dying and she needs $500 to pay for hospital bills.
Fact is, the person you're talking to is very likely not the same person that she claims to be. She's likely in a warehouse making 100's of these calls and connections every day. That's her job, to scam people.
Don't fall for it. Find someone real where you live.
Did you meet this person online?
Her real name could be salem dauda
Yeah , First night web cam , kind of looked like her pic... but after that u could tell chat was scripted bad english, same ole same ole . Ask to see her on web cam again.. She said friend borrowed it
You never know there real name
Time to cut your losses and stop communicating with her.
We've been chatting only 2 weeks
There are no losses... just wanted to warn others
Most likely several people by that name,
Just being a real person means nothing
What is the issue or question or problem?
Does this come from a "dating" issue
This warning has been on national TV, it is posted on Ghana web site, the US embassy web site. It is so well know and famous I don't know how people still far for it.
I was given the opportunity some years ago to visit one of these business. They operated out of a large office type building, had dozens of desks and they worked three shifts, so they could. Newer employees were making the first contact, sending 100s and 100's of cut and paste messages to as many people on as many dating and message boards as they can. I get about 10 or so messages a week to my email from some of these because I own several web sites.
They have others that have detailed scripts they use for those that answer, with every possible option covered.
Normally they start and may even chat for 2 months before they ask for money, they wait to see how committed you are.
Then they start often by asking for Passport money and visa money, of course they ask for about 10 times the actual cost.
Then legal and medical fee money that is not required
And if you have keep paying to this point, they ask for airfare.
But guess what, after they don't arrive in a day or two, you get a email from their friend, they were in a car wreck, or they were detained by police and they will need more money for medical bills or for paying off police.
The list of things for money goes on and on, till you either have no more money or figure it out.
There is no way to ever get your money back, as in many countries, polictical matters are controlled by those with money, they have the money, are are also normally into other criime and/or drug smuggling, and the such. ** but on my tour, they were just business people and very proud of their business.
Remember lying on the internet may not be illegal in their country,
Many photos are of neices or grandchildren or just taken off the web.
They also may use photos of a few dozen girls locally who are paid to appear now and then in web cams.
Normally you are talking to 50 year old men or grandmothers who are paid llittle money to do this, but for them it is a job.
