    Legal aid
My husband applied for legal aid and they still require some more information. My husbands trial is in two days and there is no way the legal aid is going to come through in time. The solicitor is asking for the fees. Is he legally allowed to do this? And if we don pay what happens will he not represent my husband at the trial?

What does your retainer agreement say?

The trial is in 2 days and they have just asked for more info?

And, yes, if the Attorney is not paid he will withdraw. If it's "your" fault you probably won't get another assigned Attorney.

To get a free attorney you have to meet reqiured income and money guidelines, if you do not meet those guidelines you have to pay for your own attorney.

If you do not qualify for a free attorney and if you can not afford one yourself, you will just be without an attorney in court.

He will show up for court and ask to continue till he can arrange an attorney.

If he is getting a free attorney, often the first time you see them if the first day of court anyway. Not sure what you were expecting most just make sure your rights are protected.
