Started running rough at stops but when traveling or reved it was fine. Hard to start but would finally turn over but would be bogged down and sputter till reved up then smooth right out. Now it won't start at all. I'm getting spark and can smell gas but it just won't catch and turn over.
Vacume problem? Fuel pump? What do you think?

Check for codes with a sophisticated scan tool. I suspect an Electronic Engine Control (EEC) test P1100 (Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Intermittent), where you may need to replace the MAF Sensor ($300) and connector ($48). Only use a new genuine Motorcraft MAF Sensor. No remanufactured MAF Sensors, since this is a critical part. The key is to use a sophisticated scanner, which your Ford dealer will have, and go from there.

Ensure that you have replaced the platinum spark plugs, with the same Motorcraft plugs that came in the car, in the last 50,000 miles.
