Maytag Freezer Model No. MQU2057AEW drain tube
Please tell me where to locate the drain tube in the above mentioned freezer.
I suspect it is clogged. Ice builds up inside on the floor of the freezer every morning.
    Thanks for your help.

The drain tube on Maytag Freezer Model No. MQU2057AEW can be accessed by removing a panel from inside the freezer compartment. You have to remove the bottom drawer and the shelf just above it, and then remove four stainless steel screws that hold the panel at the rear of the freezer compartment. The drain becomes plugged because of a serious defect in this model. What happens is that defrost water freezes at the top of the drain tube, rather than drain down through the tube into the pan underneath the unit, where it is supposed to go. Eventually, defrost water runs inside the freezer compartment where it freezes and accumulates, encasing food and the bottom drawer, and generally making a terrible mess.

I've had to have a repair person come every six months to melt the ice on the bottom of the freezer and after taking off the panel, melted the ice clogging the drain. No other repairs can be done. Is this a manufacturer's defect? Today's repair was the forth one in two years.
