I have an 11 year old mini wireharried dachshund who suddenly couldn't use his left front paw to the tune of falling over. This started about 1 1/2 weeks ago and he is under a doctors care. Most problems I read about are back legs, not the front. We are keeping him caged or have him laying next to us on a chair. He eats and drinks well and will slowly walk to do his business and then back in the cage. Dr. said x-ray not a good tool to use but it did show a little narrowing. In the c-3 c-4 area. Any treatment suggestions or recovery suggestions ? He is on several meds.

Besides having $5000 surgery, pain medications and anti inflammatories is your only option to help him out. If the meds aren't working, and don't have 5 grand, you may be looking at making a decision :-(

You could always try acupuncture and possibly chiropractics...

I'm going to wait for more answers. He has already cost us $$$ when about 6 months old his system shut down due to a reaction to having his Rabies vaccine and he needed several transfusions. Always been our million $$$ dog. So we will wait our 3 weeks and the go from there. Acupuncture we may try but how do we find someone. Thanks

I would not have believed it but having seen it with my own eyes, I am turned around.
One of the technicians at our clinic has a pekingese with IVDD, his affects his rear legs.
After his third episode she decided to give the acupuncture a try and the results have been amazing, luckily for her the acupuncturist use to be affiliated with our clinic so she wasn't hard to find.
Your vet should be able to recommend someone or help you to find a listing or registry of acupuncturists in your area.
I would give the meds a chance to their thing and in the meantime do your research on the acupuncture.
