I have business in bell gardens ca. for over 28 years and I never had any problem with the city code enforcement util now. In the past I have always complide with the cith request. They come over see a problem, write me up and I take care of the problem. End of case. Recently they have a farely new inspector. Young and aggressive. If he does not like your answer he says the city prosecutor will take care if it. The problem I am having and I hate it is the city says they got a complaint about my garage and that people are living their. He even said 5 people their. So, he came of with his camera. He wanted me to give him entry so he could take pictures. I explained to him that I had lease this property three months ago and that at that time the garage was a garage and I did not want to disturb the tenents unless they have some kind of proof not just hear say. After I did get entry and inspected the garage. All is in good condition as a garage. And only a garage. How do I get the city from harassing me. Does anyone know a good lawyer that I can hire?

If the garage is just a garage with no one living in it, why didn't you end the problem right there and allow him access? If it's a garage I don't understand how you "had lease this property three months ago ... I did not want to disturb the tenants." It's a garage. How would taking photos disturb your tenants?

What does this mean - "he came of with his camera ..."? I don't know why you'd rather retain an Attorney and fight the City rather than allow them to enter and take photos and end it right then and there unless, of course, people are living in the garage.

Look in the phone book for an Attorney - we cannot recommend anyone.
