The fan is working but nothing else seems to be working ,have had it switched off hoping it would come to like but still nothing

Which fan is working? Have you checked the condenser coils and fan? Make sure the fan blades and the coils are washed out with spray soap and water. Use a water hose nozzle to clean out coils under unit then see if this makes a difference. When you remove rear panel make sure you unplug unit and replace before starting back up.
