Solar Cells and Grid Tie Inverter
I am interested in building a set of solar panels and connecting them to a grid tie inverter. I understand a 3 X 6 solar cell produces .5 volts, 3.6 amps and 1.8 watts. I need to know how to determine how many cells I can connect to a single inverter. Say for example, 200 cells would produce 360 watts. Therefore, I'd think I'd need something like a 400 watt inverter. However, on the other hand, 200 cells at .5 volts would be 100 volts... and most inverters I see on eBay are rated for 12 volts of input. So, not sure if my 200 cell / 400 watt inverter combo is correct. Can someone help explain that? Thanks!
