I have a shallow well pump with a vertical tank. If I bypass the tank I have plenty of water but as soon as I hook the tank up, the water flow stops. I have a clear hose so I can see water near the tank and at the pump but just air in the line in between. If I open a valve the water begins to flow but the tank will not fill. Therefore, the pump will not shut off.

When the pump shuts off does the pressure gage lose pressure? What's the bladder tank charged at when the pump's shut off and a cold water faucet opened? Here's a typical hook up. Is this the way you're plumbed? Back to you, Tom
