I asked out my best friend, she said no
    Hi,

I asked out my best friend of 3 years and she said she enjoys what we have too much right now. She then went on to say that if she changed her mind I would be the first to know.

I'm confused and sad. For as long as we've been best friends there's always been the feeling that something more could happen. Her last two relationships were with good friends and they ended badly so I'm thinking she might be hesitant for that reason.

I want to talk to her and ask her why and whether she ever sees something happening but I just think it will make it worse. I also want to try and get a bit of space from her but I know she needs me as a best friend. What do I do?

You need to decide whether you can handle your feelings. You took a risk when you asked her out and that risk was your friendship. If she doesn't decide to go out with you, can you control you feelings and hold back your jealousy? If you can't then your friendship may be no more.

Don't put your life on hold for her, but if you really like her don't give up.

I think you have the chance. You know both of you need enough space, you need to grape the right distance between her. And don't bother her. So be patient. You can care for her on or off.
    Best wishes.

You probably have made your friendship a bit awkward. I hope you can recover from that .

If being her best friend stops you from dating others and explore your options for love and romance with some one who feels the same then by all means see her a lot less.

But respect her feelings and be a true friend, not one that's hanging around hoping for more.
