    L1-B VISA status tax return
    Hi,

I am a Brit living in San Francisco. I have been on an L1-B VISA since October 2006 (about 5 months). Since I am in a sales team (I am a sales engineer) I do most of my work from my home office (in a rented apartment) or on the road. I have my W-2 in my hands, and I don't really know what to do next!

I would like the simplest method for doing my tax return. Can I do this online? What should I claim back etc? I think that I am entitled to some tax return since I believe I was taxed as if I had been working a full year in the US.

    Any help gratefully received.
    Tom

    Tom:

You need to file as a non-resident alien. You will pay taxes only on the income earned in the U.S.

In 2007, if you stay the entire year, you will file as a resident alien.
