    Mtb2156ge manual
Hi, I have a Maytag fridge Model MTB2156GE. I am handy and have done things like change the evaporator fan. The BELT- DAMP used to control the refrigerator section temperature has broken, and I want to replace it, but I am unable to figure out how to remove the Control Housing to replace it.

    Thanks for any help available.

    Here are the manuals: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/May...rigerators.zip
I hope they help. If not, write back and I will find the one you need. These are all Maytag manuals and I am sure yours should be in the group.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately it is not helpful as the configuration is not the same as mine. The manuals provided are for side by side, and freezer on the bottom models. I have a freezer on top model. If it is helpful, the unit is about 10 years old, so it may be in a historic manual. Any additional info would be appreciated.

    Thanks again.

Where is the control housing located?

It runs from the front to the back of the refrigerator compartment, down the center of the top of the compartment. I found a diagram at http://www.appliancepartspros.com/pa...1180#d28491180.
It is in diagram #4 "Controls" and is part # 16. The part want to replace is # 12.

It looks like you will have to remove part #16 first, and I see screws indicated, but often you have to press in on hidden tabs that unlock the plastic parts. You will just have to feel around until you find out how to do it. That's how I have done it for many years. The next time you do it will be easier.
