I have a Flotec water pump 2 months old, pressures up to 50 lbs. shuts off, immediately starts looseing pressure hits 35 lbs. then cuts back on does this constantly none stop. How do I fix the problem?

Is this a well with a pressure tank?

Sounds like the foot valve may have dirt in it or possibly a split supply pipe.

Brain nailed it! If your losing pressure like that the only thing it could is the check or foot valve.( A split pipe's possible but not very probable) Now if it's a open foot valve I'd simply install a check valve on the surface instead of pulling and replacing the foot valve. Good luck, Tom

Can you tell me if the check valve goes on the suction side or the side of the pressure that goes into the tank with the bladder?

A foot valve installs at the base of the well while a check valve installs on the suction line near the pump. Good luck, Tom

Check valve should be installed between the pump and the tank.

It's not very often I disagree with The Widget Maker but this is one of them. The check valve installs on the suction line just DOWNSTREAM from the pump. (see image) If it were installed on the pressure side of the pump you would lose prime. Regards, Tom

That's not a check valve you're showing. It's a foot valve, A check valve goes on the surface on the suction line. You claim it should go on the pressure line and that's just not correct. If you installed a check valve "between the pump and the bladder tank" every time the pump shut down the water would drain back and you'd lose prime. The check valve installs as the image shows.
